Along the corso, the Via Madonna del Ponte, you will find several bars where you can have a real Italian breakfast with a cornetto (a croissant filled with cream, marmalade or sweet ricotta cheese) and a cappuccino. You can also try homemade ice-cream in a bun, which is typical for the south part of Italy. If you'd like to give it a try you just order a brioche con gelato, you won't be disappointed! Most of the town's shops, cafés and super markets are located along or close to the corso. In the heart of Balestrate you will find the town square and the recently renovated church.
Balestrate is also a great holiday location thanks to its favorable geographic position. Located between Palermo and Trapani, it is easily reachable from the harbors and airports of these two cities. There are many direct and cheap flights available to Trapani or Palermo. Balestrate is also an excellent starting point for visiting all cultural attractions in the area, like the medieval town of Erice, the temple and amphitheatre of Segesta, the archeological park in Selinunte, the salt pans (saline) near Marsala, the cathedral of Monreale, Palermo, Castellammare del Golfo and many more!
