Zum Hinteren Dornhahn - Holidays in a listed building

Holidays in a listed building combines heritage conservation and tourism. Historically valuable buildings are taken over, gently renovated and rented out as holiday flats. The model provides a double benefit: the monuments are given a revitalised future and the holiday guests experience a stay in an exceptional building. The idea is being realised by the "Ferien im Baudenkmal" foundation, which was set up by the Swiss Heritage Society in 2005.

Public transport: 8 min walk from Schaffhausen railway station: Schwertstrasse, Fronwagplatz, Vordergasse, Goldsteinstrasse, Münsterplatz 4.

By car: A4 motorway from Winterthur, exit Schaffhausen Süd, turn right towards the town centre on Mühlenstrasse and Rheinuferstrasse, turn left at the "Stadtzentrum" junction, turn right at the junction to Museum Allerheiligen, turn right onto Münsterplatz, at the end of the cathedral you will find house no. 4 Zum "Hinteren Dornhahn" on the left.

Car park: There is no car park at the house. Münsterplatz (limited parking time), for longer parking times in the "Stricki" multi-storey car park (nearby, rather expensive) or in the Munot car park (a good 10-minute walk, cheaper). You can drive up to the front of the house to unload your luggage.

Number of persons 2: 1 double room (bed: 160/200). The room is very small and looks out over a higher window to the backyard.

Baby cot and chair available on request.

Short holidays: all year - except Christmas

Outdoor area: None, but the Moser garden and the monastery garden are on the doorstep.

Heating: Gas central heating with radiators in the flat, stove / fireplace: Tiled tower stove, heated by cooker. According to the description "proper firing up" - please only fire up after instruction.

Pets: Pets are not allowed

Kitchen: Electric cooker and oven, coffee machine, 2-person raclette set, dishwasher available.

Bathroom: One bathroom with shower, WC, washbasin. Hairdryer available

Extras: The bedroom is rather small and has a small raised window to the backyard. The living room has a beautiful window front with a bay window, which looks out onto the Moser garden and lets in plenty of light and sun. The flat is located on the edge of the lively old town, so the noise level can be a little higher. The flat is on the first floor and is accessed via a steep staircase. We would like to point out that this can be a source of danger.

Important addition: The flat in the house "Zum Hinteren Dornhahn" is a historic flat, a listed building. Although it is technically equipped to modern standards, we would like to point out that certain functional details such as window and door openers, stair handrails and step heights do not comply with current standards and may be a potential source of danger. The tenant is aware of these circumstances. The owner, e-domizil and the Stiftung Ferien im Baudenkmal decline any liability.
