Explore this elongated island. Because Öland is so flat, it is considered the perfect island for cycling. The island is so narrow that you can cycle to the sea from anywhere on the island! The cycle routes are well signposted on Öland's small roads, but there are also a number of long-distance trails and marked paths. Golfers can pursue their hobby nearby, while water sports enthusiasts can enjoy kitesurfing. You can also visit the haunting castle ruins of Borgholm, the windmills of Lerkaka and the castle ruins of Gråborg and Lenstad Borg. The fertile valley of Mörbylånga also invites you to take beautiful walks and cycle tours. The limestone plain, Stora Alvaret, offers you unique nature, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you fancy more experiences, you can spend a leisurely day at Öland Zoo and Amusement Park or simply drive over the six-kilometre bridge to Kalmar. If you want to avoid parking, simply take the bicycle and passenger ferry, Dessi.
